Alternative Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan organization affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC) and granted by the Government of Nepal, established in 2020 and based in Kathmandu. As an independent think tank and collaborative platform, it brings together thinkers, researchers, academics, professionals, and social activists to advance inclusive and sustainable development. Guided by the motto “Think Alternative! Do Alternative!!”, the Foundation promotes social transformation through science, nature conservation, and humanity, with a commitment to collective nation-building.

Its vision is “a world with scientific culture, safe nature, and equal progression of human beings”; its mission is to promote good governance, justice, and humanity; its goal is to develop scientific culture through research, innovation, and policy reform; and its objectives focus on transformation through R&D, experimentation, networking, policy discourse, capacity building, evidence-based advocacy, and awareness raising.
