Alternative Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan organization registered with the Government of Nepal and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC). Established in 2020, based in Kathmandu, the Foundation is an independent think tank and collaborative platform granted by the Government of Nepal that brings together thinkers, researchers, academics, professionals, and social activists to advance inclusive and sustainable development. It is guided by the motto, “Think Alternative! Do Alternative!!”
The Foundation’s vision is “a world with scientific culture, safe nature, and equal progression of human beings.” Guided by this vision, its mission is to safeguard nature and promote good governance, justice, equity, and humanity. The Foundation’s objectives are to foster transformative change through research and development (R&D), innovation, evidence-based policy advocacy, and capacity building, with a strong commitment to nation-building.
