Nature Conservation & Climate Change
Nature is the foundation of humanity. The Alternative Foundation recognizes the intrinsic value of the natural world and the urgency of responding to the climate crisis. It prioritizes the protection and sustainable management of natural resources, the conservation of biodiversity, and the promotion of nature-based solutions to address environmental challenges. The Foundation views climate change not only as an environmental issue but also as a socioeconomic and development concern that demands immediate and coordinated action.
To build climate-resilient communities and ecosystems, the Foundation engages in rigorous research, evidence-based advocacy, community mobilization, and cross-sectoral collaboration. Its efforts focus on integrating climate adaptation and mitigation into national and local development strategies, with a special emphasis on vulnerable and marginalized communities. This thematic area is led by Dr. Pem Kandel, Former Secretary of the Government of Nepal.
